Getaway to Bali

Welcome to Bali, "the island of the gods", a place of charm and beauty where you will discover the Balinese taste for arts and harmony.

This little paradise brings together all the essential elements for a successful vacation. Beautiful beaches, extraordinary volcanic reliefs covered with forests, hills with storied rice fields and above all a vibrant daily culture and a population of astonishing kindness.

Bali is certainly one of the last places in the world that, despite tourism, has been able to remain authentic and keep its traditions intact.

Formalities

Entry and stay formalities

Passport

Travelers must have a passport with a validity of more than 6 months on the date of entry into Indonesia and a sufficient number of blank pages to affix the visa and entry and exit stamps from the territory.

The passport must be in very good condition: many French nationals are refused access to Indonesian territory because of a damaged passport (torn pages, cover in poor condition, etc.).

People whose passport is damaged or does not have sufficient validity are not admitted to the territory and returned to France.

Short stay visas

French nationals wishing to stay less than 30 days in Indonesia are exempt from the prior obligation to apply for a visa and can obtain a “visa on arrival” at the airport. This paid visa, lasting 30 days, can only be issued for travel corresponding to one of the following reasons: tourism, transit, family or social visit, travel for artistic or cultural purposes, official mission (holders of official passports or a mission letter for an official trip), participation in a seminar/conference, an international exhibition/fair or a meeting with the parent company or subsidiary of a company in Indonesia.

A return ticket or other proof of exit from the territory is required by the Indonesian authorities. For French nationals who have received a visa on arrival, it is possible to extend their stay once for an additional 30 days with the immigration services on site.

Customs

You can obtain the tourist visa (e-VOA) before your departure via the immigration website.

Before your departure, and to save time, you can also complete the customs declaration via this site or do it on arrival at the terminals provided at the airport.

Controls

Any foreigner remaining in Indonesia after the expiration of their visa ("overstay") is liable to a fine of 1 million rupiahs (approximately 66 euros) per day for the first 60 days of overstaying their visa. Beyond these 60 days, the offender is subject to expulsion from the territory and a ban on entry into Indonesia. Immigration services are very vigilant, particularly at airports when boarding, and there are no exceptions to this measure. A foreigner in a situation of overstay will not be authorized to leave the country if he has not paid the amount of the fine and may be placed in detention if he is not able to quickly regularize his situation. .

Health

A stay abroad requires every traveler to take certain health precautions. The section below mentions the essential indications. However, these indications do not exempt the traveler from a consultation with their doctor and/or in a hospital center, long enough before the departure date to allow the booster vaccinations.

Hospitalization costs and health expenses

In order to cope with hospitalization costs and health expenses, which are sometimes very high abroad, it is strongly recommended to have an assistance contract or insurance to cover all medical costs (surgery , hospitalization, etc.) and medical repatriation, at the risk of not having access to care, including in the event of a life-threatening emergency. These costs cannot under any circumstances be covered by the French embassy on site.

Checks are frequently carried out on medicines brought by travelers. Those belonging to the class of psychotropic drugs (anxiolytics) receive special attention because they are considered drugs in Indonesia. In the event of treatment of this type, it is essential to take the medical prescription with you and to stock up on a stock of medication corresponding to the prescribed dosage, plus a few additional tablets in the event of an involuntary extension of your stay.

Vaccinations

  • No vaccinations are compulsory but some are recommended: make sure you are up to date with your usual vaccinations as well as those linked to all the geographical areas visited.
  • Due to the diphtheria outbreak and polio cases that have been reported in the country, diphtheria-tetanus-polio (DTP) vaccination is strongly recommended. Rubella-mumps-measles (MMR) vaccination is also recommended for children.
  • Tuberculosis vaccination is also desirable.
  • Other recommended vaccinations: depending on local travel conditions, vaccinations against typhoid fever and viral hepatitis A and B may be recommended.
  • Vaccination against rabies may also be offered in certain cases, depending on the conditions and places of stay. Ask your doctor or an international vaccination center for advice.
  • For stays in rural areas, vaccination against Japanese encephalitis may be necessary. In addition to vaccination, since this viral disease is transmitted by mosquito bites, it is necessary to resort to protective measures against mosquitoes.
