Created in 1960, the Manyara National Park covers 320 km². It is distinguished by the fracture of the Rift Valley, where the escarpment falls several hundred meters above Lake Manyara. Fed by rivers descending from Ngorongoro, the park offers a variety of tropical vegetation: fig trees, giant mahogany trees, wild palm trees. The wildlife is remarkable, with elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffalo, rhinos, flamingos and various species of birds. The famous lions of Lake Manyara, which climb the acacia trees to rest, are also present there.

The Serengeti National Park is one of the largest parks in Africa. The name Serengeti comes from the Masai word “Siringet” which means “Great Spaces”. Its area is approximately 14,800 km².

Its altitude varies between 920 and 1,850 meters. The originality of the park lies in the variety of environments: plains, acacia savannahs, hilly regions, large wooded area dotted with “Kopjes”, enormous granite rocks. The Serengeti is home to considerable wildlife in all seasons, including lions, leopards and predators of all kinds. 

The immensity of this park will give you the impression of driving through the most spectacular savannah spaces in Africa. The Serengeti is the scene of the most impressive animal migration you will ever witness. Around mid-April, the herds gather on the plain to head north and cross the Mara River into Kenya. They will cross the river again around November.

Ngorongoro Crater, a large circular caldera, was formed by the collapse of a volcano. It is the largest intact, unsubmerged caldera in the world, covering 326 km², with a maximum diameter of 22.5 kilometers and a depth of 610 meters. It is located in the Ngorongoro conservation area, a world heritage site.

The mammal fauna is very dense, with a majority of wildebeest and zebra, as well as various herbivores such as Cape elands, buffalo, Grant and Thomson antelopes, hartebeests, and dik-diks. This abundance attracts many predators: lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, and jackals.

Birds are present all year round, including lesser and greater flamingos on Lake Magadi, storks, herons, spoonbills, pelicans, bee-eaters, rollers, and larks.

Tarangire extends over 2,600 km² and is approximately 120 km long, at an altitude of around 1,200m. It is a magnificent and authentic park, with preserved beauty because it is less visited. Located east of Lake Manyara, it covers an area of 2,600 km2 and its average altitude is 1,100 meters. The Tarangire River which crosses it from north to south is a refuge for wildlife in the dry season. This park is characterized by 9 different zones of vegetation including Baobabs absent from other reserves.
